Trillium Technologies is an R&D company, with a focus on intelligent systems and communities for space exploration, environmental protection and human health. Trillium manages the Frontier Development Lab for both NASA and ESA, enabling the development of AI applications. Trillium works closely with the University of Oxford, which hosts FDL in Europe, in strategic support of new AI-dependent initiatives.

The ESA FDL 2020 has conducted a project to develop an extreme weather prediction system with a team of climate scientists and machine learning specialists. This programme is managed by Trillium and the senior mentor for the project is Dr. Duncan Watson-Parris from Oxford. The outputs of this project will feed directly into the ESA DTE precursor.
